The months of February and March were full of energy, growth, and meaningful impact across all our programmes. From early childhood development to youth empowerment and community support, our team worked consistently to create positive change.
At our Stepping Stones Day Care Academy, February brought a special moment of joy. The children celebrated Valentine’s Day together, creating a warm and loving environment filled with happiness. Moments like these are important, as they help children feel safe, valued, and connected.
Our WordWorks programme also made great progress. Two sessions of the Every Word Counts programme were successfully completed in Plakkerskamp and Merwespoint. Caregivers who participated received their certificates with pride, showing their commitment to supporting children’s early literacy development at home.
The After School Care programme continued to grow, with more than 20 children attending regularly. Learners used this time to focus on homework and improve in difficult subjects. We are especially proud that 6 children are now ranked in the top ten at their schools, showing the real impact of consistent academic support.
In the area of Arts & Culture, creativity was thriving. Our recording studio was very active, producing more than six projects. We are excited to release the first single by our female vocalist Nikite, who shares her personal story through music. In addition, a group of young artists from the community was recruited, and their tribute song “Mammie” celebrates single mothers and their strength.
Our Jobs & Skills Centres achieved strong results across different locations. Many participants completed job readiness and online training programmes, leading to real employment opportunities. In total, a record number of 65 students were employed, showing the success of our efforts to support people in building a better future.
The YearBeyond programme was one of the highlights of these months. In February, 80 applicants were interviewed and 27 were selected and trained. The programme was then rolled out across four schools, reaching hundreds of learners. By March, 390 learners were actively supported, with each participant receiving individual attention. The team also conducted over 270 home visits, strengthening connections with families and communities. Daily activities, including EduFun and homework support, reached between 50 and 300 learners, creating a strong educational impact.
In addition, the programme introduced initiatives such as the Walking Bus, ensuring that over 40 learners could travel safely to school every day. These actions show how we support not only education but also the overall well-being of children.
Finally, our work in Temporary Safe Care and Emergency Removals was recognized at the 2026 Safety Parent Appreciation Event. This recognition reflects the dedication and compassion of our team in supporting vulnerable children in the Langeberg region.
Looking back, February and March were months of strong progress, community engagement, and real impact. Step by step, we continue to build opportunities, support families, and empower the next generation.
